Dancing the Bears Ears
CHOREOGRAPHY BY ZVI GOTHEINER
MUSIC BY SCOTT KILLIAN
MEDIA DESIGN BY JOSHUA HIGGASON
A "new ritual" to raise consciousness about the significance of an incredible landscape that speaks to all of us about the spiritual and mythological connections we have to each other and to the earth.
Created to honor the unprecedented convergence of the five American Native tribes that are advocating for the preservation of their sacred lands they call Bears Ears in Southeastern Utah.
Dancing The Bears Ears celebrates the important legacy of land and honors those of us—both individuals and whole sovereign nations—who find there sustenance and renewal.
Animated with fragments of stories and laced with the spirit of ancient inhabitants, it is a dance about how this sacred landscape healed us, and brought us into a harmonious place.
“Dancing The Bears Ears is destined to be part of the essential canon of artistic works that represent the authentic voices and spirit of the American West.” (The Utah Review )
